The Mnemomarium
The Mnemomarium is a series of pictures of my grandma’s living room. Even though I spent a lot of time here as a kid, I have no photos or videos of the place at all. These 3D renderings are all purely based on my childhood memories, and thus may be wildly inaccurate. These pictures offer a blurring between the subjective and objective experience — an architectural configuration built up from a configuration of mental images. Mnemomarium is a portmanteau of the Ancient Greek word μνήμη, mnèmè (‘memory’), the Latin -arium (‘specific place’) and the Dutch word oma (‘grandmother’).
